What Is Gaslighting and Its Dangers?
Introduction to Gaslighting
Gaslighting is a psychological term that describes a manipulative form of psychological abuse in which a person or group deliberately causes another person to doubt their own judgments, develop feelings of self-doubt, and question their own sanity. It’s a form of psychological manipulation used to gain power and control of another person or group. The term is derived from a 1938 play called Gas Light, in which a husband convinced his wife that she’s insane by manipulating the surroundings and making her doubt her senses.
